Support a family living with no running water and losing SNAP benefits
Hi beautiful people, my name is Antoinette Webb and I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 neurodiverse kiddos (ages 11, 4, and 2) and a yoga instructor based in Atlanta.
My family (3 kiddos, me, hubs + his mom) have been hit with a huge main line plumbing issue that flooded our hallway at the same time as our SNAP benefits being cut off today. We have not had running water for a week.
For us, this is coming right after just dealing with car issues (our car couldn’t reverse for months, which impacted every move we made) and needing to find new therapeutic services for one of our children.
The plumbing issue is thankfully under $5K, but I’m setting the amount to about that much (the starting goal changes itself as it’s met) so that we can make sure our kids are fed and as comfortable as possible during this hopefully soon plumbing and bathroom rebuild, as we do not have running water nor the means to check into a hotel.
Asking for help is already hard to do, and not having my own village to lean on as a person and then especially as a parent of neurodiverse kiddos, it makes it that much harder. I’d prefer to teach yoga and work for what I’m asking for, but I have to show up for the care of our kiddos first. My mind is clear enough to at least do that. I need some help in doing that. The last week has been HARD, and through anxiety, crying, confusion, and frustration, we are trying hard to keep our heads up.
I will put whatever is necessary toward the plumbing pot that hub's mother is working on, and the very next thing is food, pull-ups, and warm clothes for our kiddos, which will also mean laundromat runs and frequent water runs to make it through. I’m not sure when a warm bath or shower will be in our kids' or our future, but at least they can be clean with a full tummy.
Every little bit helps, and I thank you for sharing, praying, sending good vibes, and adding to our goal.
