Hi, my name is Thomas and I have set up this page to ask for support for my girlfriend of 6 years while she fights Breast Cancer. She is a mother of four, a daughter, sister, cousin and fierce friend to many. Up until recently she worked in a doctors office in New York. A job she loves because she gets to help others. She also has her own small business that she loves and also uses to help others in similar situations whenever she can.
This woman is such a wonderful, lovable and caring person. She is always taking care of her family and myself, putting others over herself, to ensure they're happy and healthy. You will not find too many people in this world with a heart as big as her's, and when you do you will know how lucky you are and should cherish it with all you have.
Her journey started in April after her annual mammogram came back with suspicious findings. After repeated imaging and a biopsy, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer DCIS Stage 0. At first, the doctors were hoping that she would only need a lumpectomy, radiation and medication for the next five years. However, after further imaging and multiple biopsies, it was discovered that she had multiple clusters widespread throughout the ducts and all of the biopsied sites have come back positive for cancer. As a result, it was determined that a Double Mastectomy is now needed rather than the Lumpectomy. As far as they can tell from the biopsies, the cancer is still non-invasive, but they will not know for sure until after the surgery. There is also a concern that the cancer may have spread to the lymph nodes. So, the Surgical Oncologist has already scheduled her DMX for this Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 and we are scrambling to make sure everything is ready for her long recovery.
We are very grateful that she has a wonderful team of doctors and nurses who have helped us navigate through this journey so far. Unfortunately, the financial burden is starting to become a bit too much for us, especially in light of the fact that she is no longer able to work at her job and that I will need to take off from my job in order to help assist her while she recovers.
Since she was first diagnosed, we have learned so much about this horrible disease. It is the second most common cancer found in women and is very expensive. In order to give you an idea of how much of a financial strain this disease can be on the individual and their family we have included a link below that explains the average cost of breast cancer treatment in detail. My hope is to find support in the community so that she can continue to focus on fighting this battle with cancer without the stress of bills, rent, medical expenses and such on her mind. So, In her time of need, I ask for your help. To support her through her journey. To help her push through and beat this disease and we all can stand together as one for a worthy cause.
We appreciate any donations given and thank you in advance for your kindness and support.
