My name is Anthony Bowen, and this is my story.
Any funds raised will go towards increased Medical cost, paying off my medical debit,
I’ve never been the kind of person who asks for help. I’ve always tried to handle things on my own. But today, I’m asking for help because this has been a long, exhausting fight—and I’m still in it.
If this story reaches the right people, and everyone who reads it donates even just $1, it could truly change my life and finally allow me to focus on beating cancer.
At 33 years old, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I had to undergo surgery to remove my entire thyroid and surrounding glands, followed by nuclear radiation treatments, countless scans, endless blood work, and more doctor’s appointments than I can count. For years, my energy was completely drained before I finally started to feel somewhat like myself again.
Then, in 2013, everything changed again.
After a sudden vertigo spell, I went to get checked out—never imagining what they’d find. That’s when I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML).
CML is treated with a form of chemotherapy in pill form. Most patients reach remission within 6 to 12 months.
I am now going into my 13th year.
Thirteen years of daily medication. Thirteen years of bloodwork, scans, appointments, side effects, fear, and waiting. Thirteen years of fighting to get this disease into remission.
The good news is that my most recent checkups are finally showing promising results. My doctors believe we may be able to get me into remission within the next year or two.
But this fight has taken everything out of me—physically, emotionally, and financially.
Over the years, I’ve drained my retirement fund. I’ve used my savings. I’ve relied on credit cards just to afford medications, medical bills, and even basic living expenses.
Right now, I’m working a full-time job and two part-time jobs just to survive.
I’m exhausted.
I’m not asking to stop working. I’m only asking for enough help to relieve some of this financial pressure—so I can quit my two part-time jobs, pay down some of this medical debt, rest, and finally focus my energy where it belongs: on getting my cancer into remission and being here to enjoy the life I’ve fought so hard to keep.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. If you can donate, share, or even just send a kind word—please know it truly means more than I can put into words.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me keep fighting.
— Anthony
