My name is Nancy Cox, and I’m reaching out to ask for help for my grandmother, Nancy Thornsberry, as she faces the heartbreaking reality of losing her son—my uncle—Anthony Wayne Davenport. We are trying to raise funds for his funeral and cremation expenses.

On July 31, 2025, tragedy struck when the apartment building where Anthony lived collapsed. He lost everything—except for his lunch pail and the clothes on his back. He wasn’t allowed back inside to retrieve anything, not even his medications. Thankfully, Hunters with a Heart pulled together $500 to help him get clothing and essentials.

Just two days later, on August 2, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., my granny took him to Walmart to pick up a few items. As they walked in, Anthony noticed a school supply donation station for children in need. With only a couple of pairs of pants in his cart and very little money to his name, he still filled the bin with glue, paper, and other supplies for those kids.

He beamed with pride, telling Granny, “The kids will have their glue now.”

This was Anthony in a nutshell—selfless, giving, and always thinking of others. He had no biological children of his own, but he adored kids and animals. Even after losing his home and belongings, not knowing where he’d live next, he still put others before himself. That act of kindness is something I’ll never forget.

Just two hours after that donation, Anthony began feeling unwell, and his speech started slurring. He was rushed to the hospital, where he fell into a coma. He was placed on a ventilator and care-flighted to Miami Valley Hospital. Doctors discovered he had suffered a massive stroke—a full brain bleed.

After two painful weeks with no improvement, Anthony took his last breath on August 17, 2025, at 11:22 a.m. He was surrounded by family when Jesus called for his soul.

Any funds left after final expenses are paid will be used to donate school supplies to local schools in his name. Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference and be deeply appreciated.

Anthony’s last big smile came from helping children in need, even when he himself had nothing. I keep hearing his words in my head—“The kids will have their glue!”—and it reminds me of the kind of man he was.
