Support Anthony: Fighting Cancer, Rebuilding Hope
Donation protected
Two years ago, my incredible Dad, Anthony, received a devastating diagnosis of lung cancer. It marked the beginning of a grueling battle that saw him endure the harsh trials of chemotherapy and radiation. For a time, we rejoiced as he entered remission. Yet, this spring, the unthinkable happened – the cancer returned, this time infiltrating his lungs and even more cruelly, spreading to his brain.
Two massive tumors took root, one menacingly in his frontal lobe, the other dangerously close to his cerebellum. The urgency was palpable, and an emergency surgery was performed, successfully removing the growths. Those who know my father are familiar with his unyielding strength and unwavering courage. He's weathered this storm through sheer determination, unwavering faith, and the loving support of his wife, Justine, family, and cherished friends.
But the battle rages on. Radiation therapy became the next chapter in his fight, aimed at preventing a resurgence. Yet, it brought its own torment – brain swelling and seizures, sending him back to the hospital's cold, clinical embrace. The path to recovery now requires extensive rehabilitation; at present, he's robbed of the ability to walk, and it may be weeks post-radiation before that freedom is regained.
With each passing day, the mounting medical expenses cast a shadow over him. While insurance helps, the burden remains significant, as he's responsible for 20% of the bills. There are countless expenses—treatments, surgeries, hospital stays, and at-home care. To make matters more complicated, his home presents a challenge, with numerous steps that necessitate expensive renovations and the installation of a chair lift, all running into thousands of dollars.
The stress and worry about these financial burdens weigh heavily on my father. Throughout his life, he's been a provider for himself, his family, his staff, and anyone in need. A true pillar of support, he would drop everything to help others, refusing any payment, and lavishing his love on friends and loved ones.
Now, it's our turn to support him—the man who has given so much love, help, and generosity to everyone. Please, if you can, consider lending a hand. Let's secure that chair lift, adapt his home to his medical needs, and alleviate the burden of at-home nursing and medical copays. My father would never ask for help himself, but we must ensure he doesn't bear the crushing weight of financial worry during this trying time. We want him to focus on healing and cherishing moments with his loved ones. Any assistance, no matter how small, would be a blessing beyond words.
