On October 5th, Anthony Alberici went to urgent care in Columbia, South Carolina, after feeling unusually fatigued. Within hours, blood tests confirmed he has acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) - an aggressive form of blood cancer that requires immediate and intensive treatment.

After a difficult week of hospital stays and medical consultations, Anthony was flown by emergency medical transport to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. MSK is one of the nation’s leading leukemia hospitals and gives him the best possible care - but it also means his wife, Chloe, and their 6-month-old son, Gino, now need to stay in New York for an extended period while he receives inpatient treatment. Depending on how his body responds, Anthony will be in NYC for at least four months, with the possibility of his stay extending many months.

Anthony, a 2021 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and an active-duty Army officer, faces a long stretch of hospitalization where he’ll undergo intensive chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and a bone marrow transplant - followed by months of outpatient treatment and recovery.
