Hello friends,
My name is Anthony Alvarez, and I’m honored to share that I’ve been accepted into Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, where I’ll be pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. I am in candidacy with the Oregon Synod of the ELCA to become a rostered minister of Word and Sacrament.
I am fulfilling a call I have felt throughout my life—through ministry work, personal growth, and most recently, getting sober in April 2024. God has led me both through struggles and healing, and now I feel called to serve, using my life experiences to reach the marginalized.
Seminary is not only a spiritual commitment, but a hefty financial one as well. I have been blessed to receive a scholarship to cover a percentage of the cost of school; however, I have additional fees that I will need to cover for the first semester.
Your support means the world to me, and I understand that, given the current climate, financial support isn't possible for everyone. Support takes many shapes, including prayers, hugs, high-fives, and willingness to share this campaign with the wider community. I am also happy to have open dialogue about any aspect of this path to ministry, including my journey in sobriety. Thank you all for the support.
