My mother Ann was quite recently and suddenly diagnosed with a Glioblastoma multiforme tumor.
It was a night and day difference. One day she was fine, and the next day, her speech was affected and she found it difficult to find the words she wanted to say.
Mummy underwent brain surgery in Barbados in September to relieve some of the pressure.
She now has to undergo radiation therapy and chemotherapy in Trinidad because the machinery to deliver that treatment doesn't exist in Barbados.
She will have to be in Trinidad for 6 weeks to undergo daily radiation and chemotherapy.
Unfortunately, because of her previous cancer diagnosis 12 years ago (during which time she was in remission), she doesn't have health insurance to cover this.
If you know me, you know I always say, money comes when you need it, so don't worry about money. Well, right now we do need it, and we're working on all avenues to get the finances together so that she can get the lifesaving treatment she needs.
So far the cost of the radiation is US$30,000.00 and the cost of the chemotherapy is US$18,000.00
Accomodation in Trinidad is just under US$3000.00
Any amount you share (even just sharing this post) is greatly appreciated!
