Hello, this GoFundMe is for assistance with the care of and for Ann “Annie, Mama Ann” as she is affectionately called by friends, family, and colleagues who love her passion and nurturing care she provides at Providence Centralia Hospital and the loving kindness she gives to all patients, families, coworkers, friends, and family. She is always trying to make everyone smile and laugh with her dancing, singing, and humor.
Ann has been diagnosed with High Risk Critical Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL) 14 days ago. She’s fighting for her life as she has multiple blood clots in her arms and hands. MRI shows she has bleeding and blood clots in the left side of her brain. She’s fighting hemorrhaging in her eyes, hands, arms, and legs as well as bleeding in her lungs. This was and is a shocking life trauma that was never expected. Ann has worked on the units at her hospital for several months feeling exhausted and uncomfortable, but she thought it was her iron deficiency and stressful job that was the cause. She started bruising all over her body for no apparent reason 2 weeks ago and decided to go have blood work done. Her results came back; she was at 14 platelets and 156,000 white blood cell counts. We rushed to the emergency room to be told she was in life-threatening critical condition and had to be transported to a bigger hospital with leukemia specialists for major emergent care. She was transported to Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Oregon. They did a bone marrow biopsy and results came back APL. She started to have hemorrhaging in her hands and arms with the IVs causing blood clotting due to APL. The doctors had an MRI completed and found the blood clots in her arms as well as bleeding and clotting in her brain on the left side, and she has blood and fluids in her lungs. We have been told that the suggested treatment medication is not available due to logistics and therefore she would have to go with a backup treatment plan. Ann has been coughing and vomiting up blood and has a constant migraine on the left side of her head. She has a blurry right eye and bleeding in both eyes. She has not been able to eat in 12 days and has tried a bite here and there of food, all while cheering her nurses on and trying to make them smile and laugh.
Then, when no one is in the room, she cries on my shoulder thinking about how she looks and feels. I comfort her with love and positive support and prayers for her recovery. The doctors have put her back on medical leave starting for 1 year and then reassessed from there. Providence HR stated at the six-month date her benefits will be terminated and there is nothing we can do to prevent it. Ann has been at the hospital, not able to obtain work hours, yet the bills are coming in nonstop from medical bills to household bills. Now, to have the stress of the financial burden of medical expenses incurred and occurring.
The GoFundMe would help Ann to concentrate on healing and recovery.
Please pray and send positive thoughts for Ann.
Thank you and God bless.
