Annmarie is a single mom who has raised four children on her own. She lives in a dangerous neighborhood, and her only car often stalls out while she's driving, making every errand nerve-wracking. During that time, she has worked multiple jobs and worked hard to take care of her children and improve her situation. She even managed to get a college degree this past year. Now, she's been accepted into the graduate program of her dreams, but the cost is more than she can afford. She's been applying for scholarships and has been awarded a couple, but she will be at least $16k short on tuition, fees, and materials.
Over Christmas, Annmarie was diagnosed with her second cancer, but has not let that stop her. She's still working multiple jobs, taking care of her responsibilities at home, including overseeing the education of her youngest son, and volunteers to help others in so many ways. This graduate program is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her and she's worked out a plan with her oncologist to allow her to attend her one-week residency during her treatments. Unfortunately, the cost increases for food, utilities, and car insurance in recent years have made it difficult for her to keep up with her basic expenses. If her landlords were not so patient, she and her son would be homeless right now. Because of this, Annmarie is hesitant to take out student loans when she isn't positive she'll have the income to pay them back. Integrity is important to her.
Would you donate the cost of your next coffee or meal to this hard-working, ever-positive mom? Even a little bit helps!
