I'm Ann, currently on dialysis, & this is my story. On December 31st, 2024, at 5:30 am, early morning in a panic, I woke up my husband. I can't breathe. He rushed me to the E.R. at St. Joseph Providence. My foot was swollen, tossing and turning from sleepless nights. This was the start of discovering my kidneys were failing. I was in total shock. Blood draws, CAT scans, and ultrasounds were taken. All these doctors evaluating me, and then I was admitted. My doctor, a nephrologist, walked in & explained the devastating news of Stage 5 Renal Kidney Disease & that I needed surgery for a catheter to be placed in my chest to start dialysis immediately. I was in total shock. My life was about to change. A million questions and emotions were building up in my mind. My job, my family, my kids, everyday life. On Jan 6th, my journey began...

Countless individuals face the daunting reality of kidney disease, often waiting anxiously for the next step. Dialysis treatments are not a cure. Learning about dialysis, blood tests, nutrition, and diet, and the biggest goal, getting a transplant that may never come. Creating more memories with family & friends.
