Annika is a devoted 24-year-old mother who has always put her loved ones first, even when times are tough. She lives in a trailer home with her young son, her son’s father, and her mother, working hard to make sure her family is cared for despite ongoing financial struggles. Annika’s kindness extends beyond her family—she’s the type of person who will go out of her way to help a friend or even a stray animal in need. Just recently, she made sure a stray kitten had food and water, even though she didn’t have much to spare herself. Her dreams include becoming a nurse, feeling the desire to help people and children in need. She’s also the friend who will find creative ways to make others feel included, like FaceTiming a friend through a wrestling match and buying her a souvenir so she wouldn’t feel left out.
Annika’s life changed suddenly when she suffered a stroke, having to spend weeks in the hospital, including on her 24th birthday. Now, she’s unable to walk, struggles with severe hallucinations, and faces memory challenges every day. The road to recovery is long and uncertain, and she urgently needs rehabilitation to regain her independence. Unfortunately, her insurance won’t cover the rehab she needs, and the costs are overwhelming as she had to be transferred to different hospitals in different states. On top of that, daily living expenses are piling up, making it even harder for her family to get by.
We’re raising funds to help cover Annika’s rehab costs and support her family with essential living expenses during this difficult time. Every contribution will help Annika access the care she needs and give her family some much needed relief. Your support means the world to Annika and everyone who loves her.
