Over the past two years, I have faced ongoing health issues that have required two surgeries already, and now I am preparing for a third. While I knew this surgery was likely, I was not expecting it to happen so soon or on an emergency basis. Because of the urgency, I have not had the chance to financially prepare for the procedure or the healing process that comes with it. I will be out of work for three weeks, and I have already used up all of my sick leave dealing with appointments and days when the pain was too much to bear.
