Yesterday, everything changed. On her way home from work, Annie suffered what doctors believe was her first-ever seizure while driving. She lost control at 45 mph and crashed straight into a redwood tree. She survived. And that alone feels like a miracle.

Annie spent the night in the ER, is currently still in the hospital, and is now facing a long road ahead: an underlying issue that doctors believe may have caused the seizure, both ankles sprained or possibly fractured, and bruising across her entire body. She is stable, alert, and very much herself. There are still unanswered questions, and doctors are continuing tests to better understand what happened and what recovery will look like. She’s hurting, but it hasn’t changed who she is. If you’ve ever met Annie, you already know — she’s still smiling. Because that’s who she is.

Annie is a gold medal competitive kayak fisherwoman. She teaches clamming, crabbing, and foraging through her work with Flora and Fungi. She works at a local school and volunteers with GSSA. She runs Scales in My Nails, a small business that brings women together on the water for connection, confidence, and adventure. And in her spare time, she combs the beach for sea glass and turns it into jewelry, often just to give it away. She gives constantly. Quietly. Without ever asking for anything in return. Now it’s our turn.

The bills are already stacking up — emergency care, imaging, specialist follow-ups — and with her mobility limited and so much still uncertain, the pressure is real. She’ll need help getting to and from appointments, covering medical costs, and having the breathing room to actually heal.

Her fiancé, Nick, who works on a fishing boat, is right by her side. He showed up to the ER with In-N-Out and a whole lot of love. But even the strongest people need a village. Annie is still here. She is strong. And with your help, she will get through this.

Every dollar goes directly to her care and recovery. If you’re not able to give, sharing this makes a real difference. She has spent so much of her life showing up for others. Let’s show up for her.
