We wanted to share another important update — Annie’s final hip revision surgery is now scheduled for May 5th pending labs and confirmation that her infection has been eliminated . The IV antibiotic treatment has been completed and her PICC line has been removed!
During the hip revision surgery , her surgeon will remove the temporary antibiotic-eluting hip spacer that’s been in place to help fight off infection. In its place, they’ll implant a permanent hip replacement.
Over the last several weeks, as most of you are aware, she has been battling DRESS syndrome (a rare and serious drug reaction), which she is still undergoing treatment for, including high dose steroids and anti-
organ rejection medication, as well as a multitude of other medications. Thankfully, her medical team has been closely monitoring her condition and managing setbacks , bringing her one step closer to completing this long process.
It’s been a difficult journey fighting infection, managing complications and Dress .
Annie and Eddie are incredibly grateful for all your love, encouragement, generosity and support that have carried them through each stage.
This upcoming surgery represents a major milestone toward final healing and regaining stability in her life. And most importantly, getting back to herself.
Thank you again for standing by her — through donations, kind messages, and simply keeping her in your thoughts. Your support means the world. ❤️
UPDATE:
We wanted to share an important update on Annie's health journey. While recovering at home, Annie had suffered a severe and life-threatening reaction to the IV antibiotics which was diagnosed as DRESS Syndrome. DRESS Syndrome typically presents 2-8 weeks after drug exposure with fever, extensive rash, facial swelling, whole body swelling, lymphadenopathy and internal organ damage. Thankfully, Annie's medical team recognized her symptoms as DRESS and immediately readmitted her and withdrew her from the antibiotic causing this severe reaction. Annie spent an additional 10 days in the hospital. This complication has once again set back her recovery significantly holding up her permanent hip replacement surgery. Between the extended hospital stays, the ongoing medical care, and preparing for yet another surgery, the financial strain has become even more overwhelming.
Your support- whether through donations or simply sharing this page or sending encouragement- means more than you know. Annie is beyond thankful for all the help in navigating this difficult chapter with hope, dignity and strength.
Annie is facing an unexpected and overwhelming medical setback, and we’re hoping to gather some support around her as she works through a long and difficult recovery. She recently went in for a planned hip surgery — something she had been preparing for and hoping would finally bring her some relief. But once the doctors began, they discovered a serious infection that changed the entire course of her treatment. Instead of receiving the replacement she was expecting, Annie had to have a temporary hip put in so the infection can be treated first. This sudden complication has turned a routine recovery into months of limited mobility, ongoing medical care, and a much longer period without being able to work. It’s a situation no one can truly prepare for, and it has placed her in a very challenging financial position.
Anyone who knows Annie knows the kind of person she is: steady, resilient, positive, and endlessly giving. She has faced more hardship in her life than most people ever will, yet she continues to show up with strength, kindness, and a quiet determination that inspires everyone around her. She is not someone who asks for help — which is exactly why we’re asking on her behalf.
Your support will help relieve some of the financial pressure so Annie can focus on healing, fighting the infection, and preparing for the next stage of her treatment. Whether you’re able to donate or simply share this fundraiser, your kindness will make a meaningful difference in her life during a moment when she truly needs it. Thank you for taking the time to read Annie’s story and for offering support, compassion, and hope. It means more than you know.
