Help alleviate the financial strain for Annie’s surgery
Donation protected
*Update*
Unfortunately, Annie has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma which is what caused the femur to break in the first place. At her 8wk follow-up, we learned that the femur has not healed but has actually deteriorated further. In the very near future, the implant and/or her femur will fail and we will have to make the decision to let her go. We told Annie’s owner and have a plan: Ian and I will continue to love Annie as much as possible until that moment comes. There are options for chemotherapy, amputation, radiation.. but none are the right path for Annie given the severity of her cancer, the arthritis in her joints, and her age. We’re still going to consult with the oncologist and try to slow down the bone deterioration to buy her some more time, but no matter what we will make sure she feels happy, safe, and loved for the remainder of her life.
I’m going to keep fundraising with the goal of alleviating as much financial strain for Ian’s grandmother as possible. We have taken on her cancer treatment and pain medications, but are still hoping to wipe the femur repair surgery to make this an easier pill to swallow for Annie’s owner. We are so incredibly grateful for everyone who’s already donated!! Thank you.

My husband’s grandmother has been in and out of the hospital for surgeries, illnesses, and subsequently received some long-term diagnoses. During her last stay, her beloved sheepdog, Annie, broke her femur. The break was described as “catastrophic” by the chief surgeon at Purdue Animal Hospital.
My husband and I were able to go pick Annie up from the caretaker, drive her to Purdue for surgery, and are now caring for her during her 8-12 week intensive recovery period. Our goal is to get Annie back home to her mom as quickly as possible - they need each other as her mom (my husband’s grandmother) navigates the ongoing health challenges and will begin treatments soon.
We are helping as much as we can by re-carpeting the stairs Annie has to use at home, paying for follow-up appointments, driving her to Purdue for check-ups, buying crates and special dietary food, and taking her out with a sling throughout the day… but we endured health problems with our own dog last year so could use some help paying for Annie’s femur repair surgery. The surgery is complete and sweet Annie is home with us, but we’re trying not to burden her owner and would greatly appreciate any contribution amount!
Thank you!
