Support Annie Jennings' Fight Against MDS
Donation protected
We have a HUGE UPDATE! After finding a match and going to U of M October 23rd for extensive chemotherapy for five days, and then having her transplant on October 29th, she responded tremendously to treatment! Please continue to help any way you can!
I am raising funds for a very sweet Sylvania Schools teacher, Annie Jennings. Annie is an ELA Intervention Specialist for 6th-8th grade, who absolutely loves her students, her family, and most of all GOD. She has a passion for photography, enjoys being outdoors and admiring sunflowers. Annie has struggled with migraines, and after many different doctor visits, has recently been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called Myelodyspastic Syndrome (MDS). If left untreated, MDS will turn into Leukemia.
So what comes next and what is the impact? Annie is in need of a bone marrow transplant, which we are hopeful will be in early fall of this year. She will first get very intense chemotherapy treatments to wipe out her own immune system and then remain at the University of Michigan for an entire month for the procedure and recovery. Post surgery, she will have to remain away from large groups of people for a minimum of six months as her body rebuilds an immune system.
We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of medical bills and travel expenses as she begins this journey so she will have one less thing to worry about. She is already facing a very scary procedure and devastated that she will not be able to enjoy this school year with her students, but leaves her faith in GOD, and knows HE will provide her with what she needs.
