Support Anne-Marie's Battle Against Rare Cancer

We are reaching out with a hopeful spirit. Our dearest friend, mother, wife, teacher, and mental health advocate, Anne-Marie Norris, has been battling a rare type of cancer for the past year and a half. In 2024, Anne-Marie was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer in the liver bile ducts. Doctors told us her cancer is in stage 4 and is inoperable. She received chemotherapy and while it was effective in shrinking the tumor the good results were short lived. Shortly after finishing chemotherapy with a renewed sense of hope, new scans showed the tumor was aggressively growing back again. Her oncologist determined going back on chemotherapy long term would possibly damage her liver and take a hard toll on her body.

There is still hope.

Anne-Marie was sent to one of the country’s leading specialists in her type of cancer at Johns Hopkins Hospital where they also do research for Cholangiocarcinoma. It was discovered there that Anne-Marie has an extremely rare cancer mutation that has never been seen in the liver. She is the first patient at Johns Hopkins to have this rare cancer mutation, and the first person in the world to have two aggressive driver cancer mutations at the same time in the same tumor in the liver, according to biomarker testing.

Johns Hopkins Hospital filed a Compassionate Appeal to the FDA to use a new targeted therapy drug that specifically targets the rare mutation in her liver. The results have been very promising. Anne-Marie’s oncologist as well as the staff at Johns Hopkins are astounded by the promising response her liver and scans have shown so far already. They believe she may actually be eligible for surgery in the future to remove the tumor completely.

Currently Anne-Marie has to travel for treatment every two weeks, each time for an 8 hour infusion. She lives in central Pennsylvania and travels 4 hours biweekly to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. As you can expect, the cost of travel and lodging every two weeks is quite expensive. It has put an immense financial strain on Anne-Marie and her family. That’s why we are asking for your help.

Your donation will go directly towards funding travel expenses such as gas, and help cover overnight stays at a nearby hotel near the hospital.

Anne-Marie has touched so many of our lives with her kindness, service, compassion and advocacy she freely gives and shows towards others. She’s known for her warmth and generous spirit.

Whether you know Anne-Marie personally or are moved by her story, your support, no matter the amount, will make a difference. If you are unable to donate please consider sharing this page with others who may be able to help. Most of all your prayers would deeply touch our family.
