Urgent Update 12 June 2025: We Now Need to Raise £17,000 for Anna-Sophia’s First Term

URGENT UPDATE: Tribunal Delayed – £17,000 Needed to Secure Anna-Sophia’s School Place

Despite our best efforts, Anna-Sophia’s tribunal has been delayed until October, after the start of term.

The specialist Montessori school (the only setting where her needs can be met and she is both understood and safe) urgently needs to recruit and train a full-time PA and begin therapies based on her expert report. But without Local Authority funding agreed in time, they’ll need to invoice us £17,000 for the first term.

Other settings simply cannot meet her needs — and she’s not safe in them.

The tribunal will ultimately secure long-term funding — but we now need to raise this money upfront so she doesn’t lose her place.

Many of you know part of Anna-Sophia’s story. In 2018, aged 4, she was diagnosed with leukaemia and endured over two years of intensive treatment. It saved her life — and we’re so thankful — but it left lasting damage to her brain and nervous system.

She now lives with complex, drug-resistant epilepsy and faces significant challenges with learning, processing, memory, attention, and emotional regulation, as well as fluctuating visual changes from seizures and medication side-effects. Her seizures are unremitting and unpredictable, despite heavy medication.

We’re currently preparing for a tribunal to secure the right school placement and therapies for secondary school. The school that can meet her needs has offered her a place — but the local authority has named a school that cannot and as things stand, there is nowhere for her to go, come September.

To give her the best chance, we urgently need to raise £1,250 to bring an expert witness to tribunal. We’re doing this without legal representation, and every pound helps.
