Help Mary & AnnaSophia During Their Transplant Journey, supporting living expenses while they focus on healing and recovery.
AnnaSophia Berry was born in December 2007 with congenital heart disease (CHD). Her life began with a fight—undergoing open-heart surgery at just 11 days old. By six months old, she needed and received her first heart transplant.
But her journey didn’t end there.
In 2024, AnnaSophia was diagnosed with dysautonomia and transplant coronary artery disease. In May, her doctors made the difficult decision to list her for a second heart transplant.
On June 23rd, a miracle arrived. AnnaSophia and her mom, Mary, rushed to Children’s Hospital in Denver after getting the call. On June 25th, AnnaSophia endured a nearly 9-hour heart transplant surgery. She spent 7 intense days in the Cardiac ICU, followed by a series of complications, tests, tears, and small victories.
After discharge, AnnaSophia wasn’t allowed to go home. She is required to stay in Denver for at least 3 months post-transplant, within close range of the hospital. This allows for constant monitoring, biopsies, medication adjustments, and emergency intervention if needed.
On July 23rd, just one month post-transplant, her heart cath showed signs of rejection. She was immediately readmitted for treatment—IV steroids, biopsies, and monitoring. Unfortunately, this reset her entire recovery timeline. The 3-month clock has started over.
Why They Need Help
Mary has been by her daughter’s side every moment. This means being away from home, family, and work. Between housing, parking, meals, prescriptions, and travel—the financial strain is heavy.
Due to limited short-term housing options in safe neighborhoods, they’ve had to stay in hotels—making basic costs overwhelming. This fundraiser is to help cover:
Safe housing near the hospital
Food & daily essentials
Parking and transportation
Unexpected medical costs not covered by insurance
