Early morning of February 14th, we noticed that our 4-month-old daughter, Annaleigh,'s right arm was tightened up and shaking. It stopped shortly after we woke her up, but happened again a few hours later. We took her to the closest emergency room, where we ended up being transferred over to UW Children’s Hospital to meet with their neurologist team. Shortly after being admitted and getting Anna up to her own room, she had a 4th arm episode that turned into a 20-minute long full-body seizure. The neurologists confirmed that the arm episodes were seizures. Thankfully, they were able to give her medications to help prevent any more seizures. They did an MRI on Sunday and were able to figure out that it’s a genetic condition that was probably triggered by some kind of illness, bacteria, or virus; we’re still waiting on more tests and results before they’re able to figure out the exact condition and what may have caused it to be triggered.
As of Tuesday morning, we’re still at UW Children’s Hospital, hoping to go home in the next couple of days, but knowing the next few weeks are gonna be long and full of questions and challenges.
