On March 31st, following a joyous Easter celebration, our family was confronted with a sudden and devastating turn of events. Our beloved 9-year-old, Annaleah, began experiencing symptoms of nausea and fatigue, which swiftly led us to the hospital. Little did we know, our world would be forever changed. The doctors delivered the news that only 15 percent of Annaleah's heart was functioning properly. Urgent action was needed – she had to be immediately airlifted to Gainesville for a critical heart transplant.

 

Annaleah has been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition that demands immediate attention. Pediatric cardiology specialists have advised that a transplant is her only hope for survival. The road ahead is fraught with uncertainty; the wait for a suitable donor could stretch on for weeks, months, or even years. But Annaleah's resilience knows no bounds, and our family stands united in the face of this challenge.

 

As we rally around Annaleah, we find ourselves grappling with a staggering financial burden. With her treatment center located in Gainesville, Florida, our parents have had to make the brave decision to temporarily relocate to be by her side and get the best care possible. This means leaving behind their jobs, uprooting our lives, and shouldering the weight of travel and ongoing medical expenses.

 

Annaleah's love for softball and her special bond with her coach – our dad, who has dedicated countless hours to coaching in Wesley Chapel – remind us of the moments of joy that keep her spirits high. Recently, she underwent surgery to receive a Berlin heart, a device that's taken over the vital task of pumping blood to her body and lungs. Despite the challenges she faces, Annaleah's spirit shines bright, igniting hope in all who know her.

El pasado 31 de marzo, luego de una celebración de Pascua llenade alegría, nuestra familia se enfrentó a un giro repentino y devastador de los acontecimientos. Nuestra querida Annaleah, de 9 años, comenzó a experimentar síntomas de náuseas y fatiga, lo que nos llevó rápidamente al hospital. Sin saberlo, nuestromundo cambiaría para siempre. Los médicos nos dieron la noticia de que solo el 15 por ciento del corazón de Annaleahfuncionaba correctamente. Se necesitaba una acción urgente: tenía que ser trasladada de inmediato en helicóptero a Gainesville para un trasplante de corazón crítico.

 

Annaleah ha sido diagnosticada con miocardiopatía dilatada, unacondición que requiere atención inmediata. Especialistas encardiología pediátrica nos han informado que un trasplante es suúnica esperanza de sobrevivir. El camino por delante está llenode incertidumbre; la espera por un donante adecuado podríaprolongarse por semanas, meses o incluso años. Pero la resistencia de Annaleah no conoce límites, y nuestra familia estáunida ante este desafío.

El amor de Annaleah por el softbol y su vínculo especial con suentrenador, nuestro papá, quien ha dedicado innumerables horas a entrenar en Wesley Chapel, nos recuerdan los momentos de alegría que mantienen alto su espíritu. Recientemente, se sometió a una cirugía para recibir un corazón artificial de Berlín, un dispositivo que ha asumido la tarea vital de bombear sangre a su cuerpo y pulmones.
