Hello there! My name is Brenna Bailey and I am organizing this medical fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend Stephanie Gomez's mother, Anna Gomez. Anna has been in critical condition in the ICU since May 28, 2025, recovering from a severe hemorrhagic stroke. Funds raised will be used to support Anna's ongoing, lengthy recovery, as well as the needs of her six-year-old son, Matteo. From Stephanie, Anna's eldest child, regarding her mother's condition and fundraiser goals:

"My mother, Anna Gomez, suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke on May 28, 2025. A burst blood vessel deep in her brain near the basal ganglia, a part of the brain that affects motor control, caused the stroke. She was put on a ventilator upon being admitted to the hospital but was luckily able to be taken off it a few days after arriving.

Anna currently has an external ventricular drain (EVD) in place to drain excess cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) since her body cannot currently drain and absorb the excess of CSF on its own. The EVD also measures Anna's intracranial pressure (ICP) to ensure it doesn't get too high, which could further injure her brain. Anna has been in the ICU for four weeks because the EVD requires constant monitoring for both the amount of fluid being drained and her ICP. Her discharge date from the ICU remains uncertain as her doctors are still ascertaining the next steps in her recovery process as her body continues to stabilize.

Anna doesn't currently have any mobility on her left side, so she will require extensive physical therapy to regain mobility, as well as other specialized therapies to help her regain as much function as possible post-stroke. As such, funds raised will be used to cover hospital stay, rehabilitation, and home medical equipment costs, as her insurance and husband's earnings will not cover the full cost of treatment.

Funds may also help cover childcare costs for Anna's six-year-old son, Matteo, who has autism and requires a higher-than-typical degree of care. Anna is a stay-at-home mother and Matteo's primary caregiver, so the family will need extra financial support to ensure his care needs are met while his mom recovers."
