I'm reaching out today with a heavy heart to ask for help for one of our Safe Haven Families. This family is facing an unimaginable situation. Their mom recently had to undergo emergency brain surgery, something no one could have prepared for.
She is now in recovery, but there’s a long road ahead — physically, emotionally, and financially. This sudden crisis has turned their world upside down. Between medical expenses, time away from work, and caring for their children, they are in urgent need of support.
If you're able to give — even a little — it would mean so much. And if you can't donate, sharing this post and sending positive thoughts is another powerful way to help.
Let’s come together and show this family they are not alone. Thank you for your kindness.
Down below is an update from Anna:
“Makayla is gonna help me explain what's going on and how truly serious things have been...
On August 1, 2025, I was feeling "different." Ian took me to Cottage Grove ER early in the morning. I do not remember going to the Cottage Grove ER; I remember faintly the helicopter, but that was it...
Turns out I had ANOTHER brain aneurysm and AVM...
Cottage Grove ER found blood in my head, and it was causing too much pressure on my brain. I got life-flighted to OHSU and rushed into brain surgery...
They removed the left bone flap of my skull, and in 2 months they'll be putting it back in. I do not remember the first 4 days of being here...
My daughter Makayla and my husband, Jed, have been with me every day and have been helping me work on my speech and walking around again!
Hopefully on the 13th or 14th, I should be getting the staples taken out, but they are talking about sending me to an inpatient physical rehab for 3 weeks or less... not entirely sure yet...
This is going to be a long, slow recovery...
I am so blessed to have my family and friends, and my parents, and my international lover Bree, Jade, to help me get through this hard time...”
