My name is Scott Madere. I was a roommate with an awesome person named Ann Marie. I hadn't lived there very long but was finally happy that I had found a place that could be more permanent and I could call it home. Ann Marie had finally found someone 'handy' to help with the upkeep of her home and someone to help pay the monthly bills that come with home ownership. This house was in the middle of finally getting transferred into her name from her deceased grandmother. She was excited because she would finally be able to insure the home she lives in.
Then Sunday, March 9th, 2025, came. We had just turned our clocks forward an hour, and it would be daylight an extra hour. Then at 8:30 pm, I heard Ann Marie screaming, 'The house is on fire.' By the time I got to the carport door, the flames from the floor were already rising through the roof. The car in the driveway had already ignited, and windows had blown out. It was clear that saving life was the only thing we had time for. There was me, Ann Marie, one dog, and two cats. We tried our best to save them all. One of the cats, probably scared to death, was hiding somewhere. We could not find her. The rest of us were saved, but now all we could do is cry and watch everything that we both owned go up in flames. Not everything burned; there are a few items covered in black soot and soaking wet from the 2 1/2 hours of continuous water it took to finally subdue the blaze.
So what do we need? A place to stay, a way to fix our home, replace important belongings, appliances to wash clothes, store refrigerated food, meals for our remaining pets, transportation to go to work, items to maintain our yard, and get rid of all this burned trash and horrible nightmare. Anything at all would help and be greatly appreciated. I will take some for myself and pass the rest to Ann Marie so she can work on making her house our home again.
