I started a new job back in September and, although I absolutely love it, I haven’t yet built up enough sick time, vacation time, or personal time. Plus, I haven’t been there long enough to qualify for short-term disability. In just two weeks, my insurance will be canceled completely because I don’t have short-term disability for them to take payment out of, so I will not only be without funds, but I will also be without insurance.
On January 21, 2026, I had a severe car wreck where my left leg was broken, ribs on my right side were broken, and my car was totaled. At present, I have been told I will be out of work for 12 weeks, possibly longer if the orthopedic surgeon decides to operate on my leg. I get paid next Friday, and beyond that, I will not have any money coming in for the remainder of my downtime.
To make things even harder, my husband died unexpectedly on August 25, 2025. I am still trying to find my footing after such a difficult year. If you know me, you know I would rather clean houses or do odd jobs—whatever it takes—than ask for help, but right now I don’t have any other option. My sweet friend Linda came to me tonight and suggested that I do a GoFundMe account. After a long stream of tears, I decided that she was right. I have a challenging road ahead, so any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
