I'm Angie. I have been fighting for social security disability due to a rare genetic condition that causes excessive bone growth in my joints and has encased my spine in a cage of bone in several places, causing severe nerve issues. I have been unable to work because of this since mid-2020.
During this, in June of 2022 my partner, Phillip was admitted to the hospital with sepsis. Over the next 6 months, he would battle sepsis over and over, never leaving the hospital, requiring a colon resection, dialysis, ICU stays. His body was finally unable to fight any longer when he acquired the fourth bout of sepsis, this time from pneumonia. He left us on December 9th of that year.
This put the burden of paying bills on Dakota, our daughter. We were getting along okay until late last year when it was discovered that somewhere underground, we have a water leak. A leak that has grown to over 100 gallons per hour. We could not afford to have this repaired, so we turned the water off and relied on friends for things like showers and laundry. We were hoping for my disability to be approved (the lawyer was encouraging) and then we could fix it.
Well guys, the hits keep coming because, yet again, the government said no. The same week I got the denial letter from them, we finally got an answer to a health problem that had been plaguing Dakota.
You see, Dakota had been unable to eat solid food without it feeling like it was getting stuck in her throat since November of 2023. Finally in May 2024, it was discovered that she has a mass that measures 18 inches in her abdomen that is displacing her organs, including her stomach. This is causing an awkward bend in her esophagus. So, a major abdominal surgery has been scheduled for June 11, 2024.
That brings me to why I am appealing to you all for help today. I desperately need to get this leak fixed. The cheapest estimate I have gotten is from City Plumbing and that is to put in a new pipe, bypassing the old one and is going to be $3000. With that and the regular monthly expenses that we will need to pay while she is out of work, I have set this at $5000 but, I know times are tight for everyone and any amount or even a share will be appreciated.
