Support Angie Peltier's Critical Recovery Journey
- My wife, Angie Peltier fell out of our Ford 150 truck in Yellowstone National Park injuring her her back. Shortly after this fall she had issues of falling and trouble walking. Three days after the fall she was rescued and transported by 911 responders to Jackson Wyoming. She was diagnosed with spinal injury and immediately transported to Idaho Falls Idaho, and had emergency surgery on her lower back to stablize spine. She was transferred to a rehab facility after 2 weeks and still had trouble walking. She fell at the rehab facility 3 times and was transferred back to Idaho Falls. An MRI showed spinal compression in the cervical (neck area) spine and had a spinal fusion surgery of her neck. Once stable enough to transport I arranged a medical transportation service to get her back home to Manitowoc,Wisconsin. The cost totalled $13,000.00 out of pocket insurance does not cover.
She arrived at a rehab/nursing facility in Manitowoc on a Tuesday she experienced increased pain and she was still unable to walk. After three in a half days she spiked a very high fever and doctors at the facility recommended flight for life to Froedert hospital in Milwaukee.
She arrived in emergency at Froedert on Monday-Labor Day. Doctors determined a large abscess in the surgical site of the neck and scheduled an emergency surgery within hours. I was informed that 2 or 3 more surgeries may have to happen to clear the infection.
Her status has been critical since she arrived at Froedert. Currently, she is in Surgical ICU. Angie cannot breathe on her own yet. She also has a nasal feeding tube in.
Angie is scheduled for her third surgery at Froedert tomorrow to put in a tracheostomy and a feeding tube in the stomach.
This will be her fifth surgery within 2 months. Currently she is on antibiotics for the next 8 weeks and doctors informed me that another orthopedic surgery will need to be done to help stabilize spinal column from previous surgeries.
Angie's prognosis is undetermined as today Sept 12,2024. This has been going on since her fall on Juy5,2024
