Support Angel's Fight for a New Liver
Donation protected
Hi my names Jared Woods, I am the son of a very loving mother named Angel. She is truly someone who lives up to her name. She raised me and my brother by herself for a long time. After that, she found us an incredible stepdad that was with us until his passing last year in August. This has been a tough time for us. But my lovely mother made sure that me and my brother came out of it okay. As we dealt with our stepfather passing, our moms liver issues went to the wayside as we all tried to rally together in his name to send him off with love and respect. Little did we know, these liver issues that mom has been dealing with for years now would finally come to a head. Through out the last few years her condition has transitioned from Fatty liver, to liver cirrhosis, and as time and the stress of losing her husband took its toll, she is now in critical condition with a liver that is failing a woman who truly does not deserve the cards she's been dealt. While losing her husbands was not only a hit emotionally, but financially as well. Still she persevered for me and my brother and took up babysitting more often since her physical condition came with limitations. She worked & Drove & worked until finally her liver caught up with her. For those who don't know liver failure is an imminent condition that requires a transplant. Most people in her condition can not work at all, and yet she did. She did so until she had to be bed ridden or in the hospital. She is now at Shand's in Gainesville. She is on track to be put on the emergency transplant list. With no household income, and no husband to support her, we have turned to the kindness of strangers & family alike. Of course me and my brother help when we can, but she's a good mother who would not allow us to put her over our own stability. She is truly the most courageous soul I know, and has taught me that sometimes reaching out for help is okay even if its hard. So with that in mind, we have an idea for how much this transplant will cost. If she does get put on the emergency transplant list, she will be left with a very hefty amount of personal and medical debt from procedures, testing, and travels. My grandmother has tried to help assume some of this debt, while simultaneously driving her to every visit and appointment she's needed since my stepdad passing. Your donations will go directly to medical and travel cost as well as the overwhelming amount of debt this process has accrued. The board of Shand's is meeting to speak about getting her a transplant, and without some sort of financial intervention this will be likely impossible if not close to it. We appreciate everything you guys can and will do. We are hopeful that we will get the help needed. I am sad my stepfather will miss me and my brothers next steps into adulthood, but without our mom we would be truly lost. Donation and prayers appreciated. Anything helps, thank you again.
