Who am I?

My name is Thayse Franca Burns, and I am part of the leadership team at Angels Care & Learning Center, a bilingual early childhood education center in Austin, Texas.

Who are we raising funds for?

This fundraiser is for several Angels Care teachers whose immediate family members were directly affected by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela. Our teachers live and work in Austin, but many have parents, siblings, grandparents, and other close relatives living in the affected areas.

Why are we raising funds?

When the earthquakes struck, our teachers' families needed immediate assistance. Rather than waiting for funds to be raised, our teachers stepped in and sent their own personal money to their loved ones in Venezuela to help with urgent needs and recovery expenses.

They did what they could to make sure their families had help when they needed it most, but doing so required some of our teachers to make a significant personal financial sacrifice.

We are raising these funds to help reimburse our affected teachers for a portion of the money they personally sent to support their families following the earthquakes and to ease the financial burden they took on during the emergency.

How will the money be used?

Our goal is to raise $5,000.

100% of the funds raised, after any applicable GoFundMe transaction fees, will be distributed among the affected Angels Care teachers to help reimburse them for the personal funds they already provided to their families in Venezuela following the earthquakes.

The financial assistance our teachers provided to their families was used to address disaster-related and immediate recovery needs, which may include:

Food, drinking water, and other necessities

Emergency medical care and medications

Temporary housing and repairs to damaged homes

Clothing and essential supplies

Transportation and other immediate recovery expenses

The funds raised will not be used for Angels Care's operations or business expenses. The purpose of this fundraiser is to support the individual teachers who used their own personal resources to help their families during this emergency.

If we raise more than our goal, any additional funds will also be distributed among the affected teachers to further offset the financial assistance they provided to their families and the financial burden resulting from the disaster.

Our teachers spend every day caring for and supporting the children and families in our community. When their own families needed them, they stepped up without hesitation. We hope our community can now help us return some of that support to them.
