Campaign Story:
Meet Xitlaly Ramos—a proud daughter of immigrant parents, a first-generation college student, and a dedicated alumna of Cristo Rey High School and the Young Women Initiative, a leadership program in partnership with The New York Junior League and Mixteca Organization at Esperanza Preparatory Academy Magnet School.
Xitlaly recently earned a full scholarship to study Architecture at Holy Cross College in Massachusetts, where she hopes to design inclusive spaces for immigrant communities like her own.
Although her tuition is covered, her New York State health insurance will not cover her out of state. To begin her journey safely, she urgently needs private health insurance to protect her while on campus.
Last week, after leading a Youth Summit with 800 students, my wife and I drove Xitlaly and her parents to campus—her parents too afraid to travel due to the inhumane immigration policies. No student should begin college without healthcare or with fear clouding a milestone moment.
While other students are exited to start college, Xitlali was worried and hoping that she can get a job so that she can purchase a health insurance required for every student in case of any accidents.
Your support will help cover:
Private health insurance
Medical co-pays and emergency care
Help us give Xitlaly the healthy start she deserves. Every dollar counts.
Thank you for standing with her.
