En la madrugada de ayer, nuestros amigos Angélica y Esteban se encontraban acampando cerca de las Cataratas del Niágara, disfrutando de un paseo entre amigos. Durante el regreso, su vehículo presentó una falla mecánica y, tras ser detenidos por esta situación, posteriormente fueron puestos bajo custodia de las autoridades migratorias.

Hoy, Angélica y Esteban permanecen bajo custodia de ICE. Como comunidad migrante, queremos colectivizarnos para acompañarlos y apoyarlos desde la empatía. Sabemos que cada persona llega a este país de forma individual, pero también que, en el camino, encontramos personas con quienes elegimos compartir lo cotidiano, los desafíos, las incertidumbres y los escenarios que implica migrar.

Por eso queremos pedir el apoyo de quienes puedan solidarizarse con su situación. El contexto migratorio actual es complejo y, lamentablemente, una situación como esta puede ocurrir.

Estamos recaudando fondos para ayudar a cubrir los gastos legales de Angélica y Esteban, incluyendo la contratación de representación legal y otros costos asociados a este proceso. Nuestro objetivo es aliviar parte de la carga económica que enfrentan y brindarles el respaldo que necesitan mientras atraviesan este momento, con la esperanza de que todo se resuelva de la mejor manera posible.

Early yesterday morning, our friends Angélica and Esteban were camping near Niagara Falls, enjoying a trip with friends. On their way back, their vehicle experienced a mechanical issue. After being pulled over because of the situation, they were later taken into the custody of immigration authorities.

Today, Angélica and Esteban remain in ICE custody. As an immigrant community, we want to come together to support them with empathy and solidarity. We know that each of us arrives in this country on our own, but along the way we find people with whom we choose to share our everyday lives, the challenges, the uncertainty, and everything that comes with building a life in a new country.

We’re asking for the support of anyone who can empathize with their situation. The current immigration climate is complex, and unfortunately, situations like this can happen.

We are raising funds to help cover Angélica and Esteban’s legal expenses, including legal representation and and other costs related to this process. Our goal is to ease some of the financial burden they are facing and provide the support they need while they navigate this difficult moment, hoping everything is resolved in the best possible way.
