What started as flooding has turned into so much more.
The floodwaters didn't just damage photography equipment, backdrops, wardrobes, props, furniture, and irreplaceable family photos. As cleanup continued, we discovered the water had completely filled and destroyed the ductwork beneath the house.
There is one piece of good news. The studio's HVAC system should be covered under warranty. Unfortunately, the replacement part has to be manufactured and shipped, which could take up to two weeks. In the meantime, Angela is relying on window air conditioning units to keep the studio cool enough for scheduled client sessions.
The damage to the home's HVAC system is much more significant. Current estimates range from $12,000 to $18,000, depending on whether a temporary repair is possible or if the entire system must be replaced.
To make matters even more difficult, this isn't the first time the property has flooded. The flooding has become noticeably worse over the past year due to drainage issues beyond Angela's control. Water from surrounding neighborhoods is being redirected toward the property instead of into the drainage system. Although the property has experienced repeated flooding, it is not located in a designated flood zone, making it impossible to obtain flood insurance despite multiple attempts.
Angela has spent years building a business that has helped thousands of people preserve memories, celebrate milestones, and gain confidence through professional headshots and boudoir photography. Today, she needs our community's help.
