My brother James has spent the last three years as a full-time caregiver for his dying wife while raising their two teenage daughters. Tonight, his wife Angela is home on hospice—and our family is preparing to say goodbye.
There is no life insurance.
Angela’s Story
For the past six years, my sweet sister Angela Swift has fought one of the most aggressive forms of colon-rectal cancer. The disease spread throughout her body, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down and battling repeated infections, pneumonia, sepsis, and unbearable pain. Yet through every storm, Angela fought with a strength, grace, and faith that inspired everyone who loves her.
This past year, the tumor pressed into her spine, taking away her ability to walk. Now the cancer has taken over her lungs, and her journey on this side of heaven is coming to an end. She is home, where she wanted to be, and we are holding her hands through these tender final moments.
James’ Sacrifice
For the last three years, James—Angela’s devoted husband—has given up the ability to work full-time so he could care for her around the clock. He has lifted her, bathed her, fed her, managed medications, handled infections, transported her to countless appointments, and cared for their home.
And through all of this, he has also been the only active parent to their daughters:
Janessa (13) – sweet, outgoing, and her mom’s “mini-me”
Janiya (15) – a gifted high school athlete with a quiet, determined heart
Angela is also the proud mother of her two adult sons, Jalen and Julian, who love her deeply.
These children—especially the girls—have helped care for their mother in ways no child should ever have to. They have shown maturity, compassion, and strength far beyond their years.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Years of surgeries, treatments, hospital stays, medical supplies, and caregiving costs have completely drained this family.
There is:
No life insurance
No savings
No financial safety net
We are raising funds to help with:
Cremation & funeral arrangements
Celebration-of-life services
Immediate living expenses for James and the girls
Giving this family space to grieve without being crushed financially
James has already sacrificed his career, income, time, and personal life to care for the woman he loves. Now, on top of losing his wife, he is facing the fear of how to bury her while still protecting and providing for their daughters.
How You Can Help
If you are able to give — no amount is too small.
If you cannot give — please share this fundraiser.
Sharing is just as powerful as donating.
Every dollar, every prayer, every share makes a real difference in this family’s life.
Closing
Angela is a devoted mother.
James is a faithful husband and extraordinary father.
Janessa and Janiya are two beautiful girls who deserve stability, protection, and time to heal.
Jalen and Julian deserve the space to grieve their mother without added burdens.
From the deepest parts of our hearts:
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for sharing.
And thank you for helping this family through the hardest moment of their lives.
With love & gratitude,
Tanya & Family
