Hello all-
Here is a message from Angela:
I was recently diagnosed with early-stage invasive ductal carcinoma, a type of breast cancer. While it’s been a lot to process in a short time, I feel grateful that it was caught early and that I have a clear treatment plan in place.
Treatment will begin Monday, 4/20, with 6 rounds of chemotherapy, one infusion every three weeks. After that, I will move into the next phase, which will include surgery and possibly radiation. I plan to keep you updated along the way.
I fully intend to continue working and staying as active as I can during treatment, but there will be times when my schedule and energy are more limited. My medical team has well prepared me for all the potential side effects and these first few months will be the most brutal (my words, not their formal medical terminology); my treatment will step down in intensity but will continue for the better part of a year.
I want to say that Gabe has been nothing short of incredible through all of this. He’s a wonderful partner and caregiver during all of this -- shows up every day with a positive attitude, a great sense of humor, and he’s pretty great at making sure I am well fed!
As many of you have already asked how you can help, Janel has created this space for those who feel moved to support us during this time.
Your kindness, encouragement, and support truly mean so much to me—whether that’s through a message, sharing this page, or contributing. I’m incredibly grateful to have such a strong community around me.
Thank you for being part of my support system ❤️
Because the infusions will be doing a serious number on my immune system, in-person visits must be limited. I will be back in the COVID days of masking, quarantining, and keeping a safe distance. Trust me, I will be hugging everyone (with consent) VERY soon when it’s safe for me!
