On April 22 at around 2 pm, my brother Angel Castellanos was involved in a motorcycle accident. He is 19 years old and graduated from GRISD. He was driving from our parents' house to his job after his lunch break, and a lady hit him, causing him to lose consciousness instantly.
On the first day, he was only showing reflexes and no pupil dilation. On the second day, he started to follow commands like squeezing the nurse's hand and wiggling his toes. He had to go back under anesthesia for a skin graft on his leg from where the bike landed on him and burned him to a third degree. They were having trouble waking him up from that surgery. He hadn't spoken or opened his eyes on his own, so they weren't sure he was in there. But today, a nurse asked him to say his name, and he did and also opened his eyes. He's been sleeping a lot, and that's all we've gotten from him so far, but it's more than yesterday.
We're praying very hard, and I know a lot of people whom my family has never met in this community have also stepped up and helped us in more ways than I could have asked for. Thank you for all the prayers because I know God is working through everyone to bring him back home.
