My name is Sissy Goas Laffey, and I am Angel Goas’s daughter. I am creating this fundraiser to help support my dad after he suffered a massive left PCA occlusion stroke while at work on Tuesday, March 17.
My dad, Angel, lives in Medina County, Ohio, and is deeply loved by his family, friends, and church community at Cornerstone Chapel. He is a hardworking, talented man of God who has spent years laying tile, stone, and granite through G&T Tile and Stone. He takes great pride in his work and truly enjoys making things beautiful with his hands. His faith has always been a central part of who he is, and so has the way he shows up for others with strength, kindness, and heart.
After more than a month of intensive medical care and rehabilitation, Angel was released from inpatient care on April 21, but he still has a long road ahead. He is currently unable to work and, at this time, is not expected to return to work in the near future, if at all. He is dealing with aphasia, memory issues, weakness in his right hand, and vision loss on his right side that has made reading and daily life much more difficult. He is unable to drive and requires 24/7 supervision for his safety.
His girlfriend, Janeen, is staying with him and helping care for him right now, but she also needs to work during the day. We are hopeful that friends, neighbors, and members of his church community may be able to help spend time with him, check in on him, and help make sure he is safe and supported.
In the weeks and months ahead, Angel will need ongoing outpatient therapy, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. He is also currently uninsured, and we are in the process of trying to get Medicaid and Social Security Disability started. As many families know, these processes can take time, while the bills and daily needs do not wait.
Funds raised will help cover lost income, medical and rehabilitation costs, outpatient therapy, transportation to appointments, caregiving needs, household bills, and basic living expenses during this difficult season.
Beyond being a skilled craftsman, Angel is also a beloved grandfather to my three children, Elle, Willow, and Joey, and a dog dad to Coco. He means so much to all of us, and we are asking for help as he faces this incredibly difficult chapter.
Any donation, prayer, or share means more than we can say. We are so grateful for the love, support, and encouragement from family, friends, church, and community.
Thank you for helping us support Angel during his recovery.
