Andy was first diagnosed with plasmacytoma in 2022. He was able to treat this with radiation. Fast forward to the spring of 2024, he was diagnosed with yet another plasmacytoma. Again, he was able to treat this with radiation, which he completed in July of 2024.
In early January 2025, Andy was hospitalized for a week with pneumonia, and it was discovered his cancer had returned yet again. Unfortunately, radiation was not an option this time due to the cancer being in multiple spots. He has a tumor in his small bowel and the lower lobe of his left lung. Andy was put on a chemo regimen immediately and has been since January.
In June, we traveled to The Mayo for further treatment, and it was there we found out that Andy now has multiple myeloma. There is no cure for this cancer, but with treatment, he could have years of remission. Andy and his team of doctors have decided the best plan of action for him is to undergo a stem cell transplant. This is not an easy task. It will require him to basically relocate to Rochester for 3 months, give or take. It all really depends on how well he recovers from this transplant. He starts the process on September 5.
If you know Andy, you know how generous his heart is and how he always shows up to support his friends in their times of need. Now it's his turn to feel the love and support in his time of need. Any little bit will help alleviate the financial stresses he will no doubt incur during this already scary and stressful process. If you can't donate, please share and keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
