Support Andy's Heart Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,

I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart to share the story of my brother, Andy, a devoted husband to Jen and a loving father to his two boys, Colin and Gavin. Throughout their lives, Andy has been a pivotal influence on his sons, teaching them values, hard work, and the importance of being good men. His dedication to his family and his "local 19" union has always been evident, but now, due to a rare heart condition, he needs our help.

Andy was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) at the age of 36. Over the years, he has shown incredible resilience; he has walked to work, delivered pizzas, and taken side jobs to provide for his family. Unfortunately, the strain of his condition has made it increasingly difficult for him to maintain steady employment. Since September 2021, he has faced multiple hospitalizations and surgeries, including a defibrillator replacement and a series of heart procedures, all of which have prevented him from working consistently.

In June 2023, as his health worsened, Jennifer became the sole income provider for their family, working countless hours of overtime to make ends meet. With Andy unable to work, the family's financial situation has grown dire, leading to tremendous stress on both him and Jennifer. Their mortgage payments and daily expenses have become overwhelming, and the fear of losing everything weighs heavily on their hearts especially losing Andy.

In October 2024, Andy suffered a major cardiac event while on the picket line, further highlighting the urgency of his condition. He was quickly hospitalized, where doctors informed him that his defibrillator had saved his life. Following tests, he was moved to the University of Pennsylvania, where he was placed on the heart transplant list, now classified as a status 2.

While the medical team is providing exceptional care, the financial burden continues to grow. Daily expenses, including parking fees and travel costs, are adding to the strain on the family.

We are asking for your support to help alleviate some of the financial pressure on Andy and his family during this incredibly challenging time. Our goal is to raise funds that will help cover medical expenses not covered, daily living costs, and anything else that may arise as they navigate this uncertain journey.

Please consider making a donation to the GoFundMe campaign. Your generosity, no matter the amount, will make a significant difference in their lives. Share this story with friends and family, and help us spread the word. Let’s come together to support Andy, Jennifer, Colin, and Gavin as they face this daunting challenge.

Thank you for your love, support, and kindness.

With gratitude,
The Entire Reed Family
