My family is asking for support during an incredibly difficult and uncertain time. My brother-in-law, Andy, is currently in the Cardiac ICU on advanced life support after going into cardiogenic shock caused by what doctors believe may be viral myocarditis. He is now dependent on ECMO, a heart bypass machine, and multiple implanted heart pumps to keep him alive while his medical team works to stabilize him. He has undergone several major surgeries and remains unable to speak or make decisions for himself.
His prognosis is still uncertain. Doctors do not yet know if his heart will recover, and if it does not, he may require long-term ventricular assist devices and eventually a heart transplant. His recovery will be a long and difficult journey that will likely keep him hospitalized for weeks to months, followed by extensive rehabilitation.
During this time, my sister has remained by his side every single day, advocating for him and supporting him through each moment of this fight. As a result, their household has suddenly gone from two incomes to one, with Andy unable to work for the foreseeable future. The financial strain of lost income, medical-related expenses, and everyday living costs is overwhelming, on top of the emotional toll this has taken on their family.
We are asking for help to ease this burden so my sister can focus on being there for Andy without the constant worry of how bills and expenses will be managed during this long recovery. Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, means more than words can express.
Thank you for your compassion, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
Medical Update on Andy as of February 23, 2026
Things are still very uncertain right now. Andy remains critical but stable, however he is not trending in a positive direction overall.
While there has been some slow improvement in his heart function, his other organs are struggling. His liver and kidneys are worsening, and because his body is not filtering toxins properly, the doctors are performing an EEG to evaluate his brain activity. He has not been waking up, which is deeply concerning.
Andy is also battling ischemic colitis, meaning his GI system is not functioning as it should.
We are taking this one moment at a time and continuing to lean on faith, hope, and the incredible medical team caring for him. Please continue to lift Andy up in prayer and send every bit of positivity his way. We need it now more than ever.
Thank you for standing beside our family during this unimaginable time.
