Support Andy & Brandy's Healing Journey

Update: Brandy has been moved to her mother's house, where Andy and her mom are caring for her around the clock. She has started to respond, in small but hopeful ways, to her physical therapy. Thou mostly unsuccessful, she is at least attempting to move her limbs, as she is directed. She is still unable to communicate, as I understand the situation.
Andy is still without income, his shoulder is severely injured, he is caring for the youngest child, all while taking care of his wife Brandy who is bedridden and helpless. As you can imagine, he is exhausted and experiencing high levels of stress.
Funds are desperately needed to get Brandy the trained medical assistance she needs. Andy and his mother-in-law, Tina, need help with Brandy's care and her expenses, in additional to the cost of keeping Andy's household afloat.
All funds go directly to Andy, which he is using to care for Brandy and his family.
Please help as you can and please continue to keep this family in your prayers.

Original post:
I have a friend that has been blindsided by multiple life events and is in need of help. His name is Andy Raines.

Andy was one of the best employees, in my opinion, at our former employer. Andy ended up having to go on short term disability due to an injury to his shoulder. He underwent surgery Jan 17, 2024 and was told it would take 6 months or more to recover enough for him to go back to work.

But then, Andy took a nasty fall just a couple of weeks after the surgery, hitting his shoulder. His surgeon expressed grave concerns regarding his recovery. Time has confirmed his fears, Andy's shoulder is again showing the same symptoms and pains as before the surgery.

Andy did have some bright spots when he wed Brandy on Dec 21, 2023. Between her children, his daughter, and one on the way they became a family of 9. The baby, a little girl named Wrenlee, was born in March 2024.

Unfortunately, during the summer of 2024, not long after Andy's STD (short term disability) ended, the company terminated his employment. They did invite him to re-apply once his shoulder was healed.

As time went on, Andy and Brandy worked together to make their family work, despite the hardships. As I understand it, Brandy was having some symptoms that may have indicated some health issue, but before they had a chance to have it checked out, tragedy struck.

On December 16th Brandy collapsed while at her mother's home, off in a hallway, by herself. Once she was noticed, several minutes probably had passed. She was convulsing and possibly not breathing. Andy and Brandy's mom, Tina Huffman, started resuscitation measures while awaiting the ambulance.

Once the EMTs were able to stabilize Brandy and prepare her for transport, they were concerned about the length of time Brandy's brain had been oxygen deprived. She was transported to St John where she was treated in the ICU for an extended time. She was then transferred to PAM Health Specialty Hospital of Tulsa, a hospital that delivers a high level of acute care for patients requiring longer hospital stays.

From PAM Health Specialty, she was moved to Kaiser Rehabilitation Center of Tulsa, part of the Hilcrest complex. They gave Andy two weeks to make arrangements for Brandy to be place somewhere more permanently. They have until Friday Feb 21st. Their options are severely limited.

Brandy's condition has improved; she is no longer comatose and is breathing on her own. She has regained some level of consciousness but has yet been able to communicate with her family, although it does appear she is making the effort.

It is obvious that Brandy's recovery is going to take a long time. She is going to need extensive care, long term. During that time, Andy is going to be supporting his family while still unable to return to work.

Andy is in a very tight spot and needs our help. He is not one to ask for help, but that isn't going to stop me. This description of Andy and Brandy's situation is just what I have been able to put together from a couple of conversations with Andy. Admittedly I did not push too hard for information, as it was obvious that Andy was having a hard time discussing it. I will make corrections as they come to light.

Regardless the main truth still stands; we have an opportunity to help out a nice guy and his family in their time of need.

Anything you can donate will help, whether it be $5. or $500. it will be put to good use. Along with funds, prayers are much appreciated.

Please pass this along so as many people as possible will have the option to giving to this very worthwhile cause.

Thank you.
