Support Andrew's TBI Recovery

Donation protected
Last Sunday, September 14th, Andrew was admitted to the ICU at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT with multiple brain bleeds.

Andrew spent 36 hours in the ICU having CT scans every 6 hours and nero checks every hour. Once they felt the bleeding had stopped he was sent to the regular floor for continued observation and pain management. The pain caused by the irritation of blood on the brain and the swelling of his brain is excruciating. They attempted to discharge him on Thursday PM but the pain was unbearable and he was admitted back to ICU on Saturday, September 21st. Due to the continued swelling in his brain he is also experiencing sever pain in his back and neck. He will be in the ICU until further notice. When he is finally able to be discharged he will require inpatient rehab or at home services.

This is a very soft synopsis of the roller coaster of events that have taken place over the last week. If you would like more detail please feel free to reach out to myself or his family. We are doing our best to keep everyone updated. I will also try to post daily updates here as well.

Unfortunately there are a lot of unknowns with severe traumatic brain injuries (sTBI). From what we know at this point Andrew will be unable to work while his brain heals. It is unknown if this will take weeks or months. As someone who is self employed this is devastating. Health Insurance will help to absorb some of the medical bills but there is sure to be deductibles and expenses that will not be covered. Along with the medical bills there will his regular bills to pay so that he can stay afloat and have something to come home to when he is better.

Andrew is always the last one to ask for help but the first one to be there when you need him. It is our turn to be there and support him so that he can take all the time he needs to rest and let his brain heal.

I know he is going to be mad at me for starting this page but there are so many of you who care about him and want to help. At this point this is the best way to support him in his recovery.

I kindly ask that you do not text or call him at this time as it is not beneficial for his recovery to be looking at his phone. Please leave notes here or feel free to message me and I will read them to him.

Much Love,
Kait & Family
