Hello, my name is Tamyra, and I’m reaching out for your support as my husband, Andrew, faces an unexpected and challenging journey with terminal cancer. As a father and a husband, Andrew has always been the caring, behind-the-scenes force for good, striving to make the world better without seeking the limelight. His compassion led him to cofound and lead Starbright Community, a nonprofit connecting neurodiverse individuals and families with resources worldwide. He also cofounded and supported my endeavors to create Infinite Learning Academy, which helps families navigating homeschooling, educational and neurodiverse needs. Together, we’ve worked to create inclusive, impactful spaces, hosting national conferences and building supportive networks.

Our World Turned Upside Down

In the midst of moving, Andrew wasn’t feeling well and went to a walk-in clinic. That same night, our lives changed as he was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal gallbladder cancer. His first two weeks were a blur of hospital stays, tests, surgeries, and chemotherapy. I had just started a new teaching position and haven’t worked long enough to qualify for family leave, so I’m now his full-time caregiver. We had to put our belongings in storage and temporarily stay with family, all while facing the financial and emotional strain of Andrew’s treatment.

Why We Need Your Help

We are raising $50,000 to $100,000 to cover medical costs, loss of wages, and the expenses required to transport Andrew to medical appointments and eventually a specialized cancer center where he can receive the best care for this diagnosis. Your support will give him a chance to keep fighting, and allows us to make the most of our time together as a family. Although this cancer is aggressive, Andrew is strong and hopeful. He’s young for this diagnosis, and we’re holding onto faith that advanced treatments and care will give him more time.
