Support Andrew's Battle and Recovery

Donation protected
Friends and Family of Andrew and Blair, I wanted to reach out to ask for your support.

Our friend, Andrew, is battling for his life in Philadelphia, but thankfully in the best hands at HUP. As of 4:11 AM, Tuesday June 4th, 2024, Andrew is the new owner of a set of lungs. While Blair and Andrew are very thankful for the insurance coverage provided by Vanguard, they are facing an uphill battle of recovery costs. Andrew will need to remain within a radius of HUP for at least 6 months while he recovers- which will require them to rent an apartment, in addition to continuing their own mortgage payments.

Please consider a small donation. Anything counts and share with your friends. I have included a bit more on his medical journey for context below. Thank you!

Andrew has what is called an Interstitial Lung Disease (this is a generalized diagnosis) Specifically, Andrew's ILD is caused by scarring that occurred after radiation treatment for Hodgkin's lymphoma in his early 20s. Because of this scarring his lungs are getting stiffer and stiffer, and are unable to expand and contract to bring oxygen in and expel carbon dioxide. On May 15th, Andrew went into the hospital for a routine procedure but while under anesthesia had to be intubated and put on a ventilator. On Friday, May 31st, he was listed on UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) for a lung transplant and Tuesday, June 4th, he successfully underwent a double lung transplant. He is sedated but stable and beginning to heal and recover now.
