Support Andrew Powell's Journey to a New Life
Help Andrew Get Life-Saving Top Surgery!!!!
Hi, my name is Christopher, and I’m a licensed professional clinical mental health counselor working closely with a courageous, compassionate, and resilient 24-year-old named Andrew Powell.
Andrew is a transgender man who has spent the last several years fighting for something most of us take for granted: the ability to live in a body that feels like home.
Andrew was assigned female at birth. Since coming out as transgender, Andrew has faced rejection from his family and discrimination in many areas of life. He has experienced deep emotional, physical, and psychological pain due to his inability to access medically necessary top surgery. Despite his efforts, his insurance denied coverage. That’s why we’re asking for help raising $10,000 to cover the surgery and associated recovery costs.
This surgery is not cosmetic. It is life-changing and life-saving.
Here’s why this matters so deeply:
Debilitating Gender Dysphoria: Every day, Andrew wakes up feeling disconnected from his own body. This persistent dysphoria worsens his PTSD, making daily functioning a struggle.
Severe Physical Pain: He experiences significant back and shoulder pain due to the size and weight of his chest — pain that impacts his ability to work, sleep, and stay active.
Barriers to Health: The discomfort and dysphoria have led to weight gain, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea, which in turn affect his mental and physical health. Andrew wants to start biking and running again — things that used to bring him joy — but his chest makes these activities impossible.
Loss of Confidence & Safety: Andrew avoids social situations, certain clothes, and even physical movement in public due to constant misgendering and fear of judgment or violence.
Family Medical History: With a strong history of breast cancer in his family, Andrew lives with the additional anxiety that every day without this surgery may increase his risk.
Andrew is ready to reclaim his life. He’s already doing the hard work — attending therapy, setting goals, making health changes, and holding hope despite adversity. But he can’t do this alone.
Your donation will not only fund a surgical procedure — it will give Andrew the freedom to breathe deeply for the first time in years. It will allow him to move, sleep, and live without shame or pain. It will bring him home to himself.
Please consider donating or sharing this page with your community. Any amount helps.
Thank you so much for supporting Andrew’s right to live fully and freely.
With gratitude,
Christopher
