Update on 6/9: Andrew has had the surgery to remove the tumor and is at home resting now. The surgeon said he got most to all of it out. He has to have a radiation consultation and an appointment to get the stitches out next week. Andrew also has mass in his right jawline which he will go in for a biopsy on Thursday for.
Andrew has Oligodendroglioma brain cancer. We are waiting to find out what stage it is.
Hello, my name is Jocelyn Martinez, and my husband is Andrew Martinez. On May 24th after about a week of headaches, nausea and vomiting, Andrew threw up in the morning and almost passed out. We went to the Advent Health Hospital in Davenport and the doctor decided to run a CT scan and MRI. He told us that it looked like Andrew had a mass or tumor in the front left portion of his brain. Andrew was moved over to Celebration hospital for 5 days while they did test after test and then finally did a biopsy on the abnormality on May 29th. He was released the next day on Friday and today, Monday, June 2nd, we got some of the results from the biopsy. Andrew has some form of a Glioma, a tumor, in his brain. The doctor is still waiting on the molecular test results to tell us what form and grade level the Glioma is. On Friday, June 6th, Andrew will have an MRI and then surgery to take out the mass. When we find out what kind of Glioma it is, we will know if there will need to be any more treatments like chemo or anything that he will have to go through.
As everyone already knows, hospital stays and tests are not cheap. We have already gotten a bill for $4,000+ and it looks like the MRI and surgery he will have done on Friday might be around the same amount. We are asking for a little help in covering these medical bills. Anything would be so appreciated!
