Support Andrew Janovsky's Heart Disease Battle

Hello all that come across this fundraiser! My name is Andrew Janovsky, I am 31 year old nerd from the Chicago-land area, and I desperately need help financially.

In December of 2023, I found myself going to the Emergency Room, due to extreme, fatigue and a cough that developed. In the past few weeks I also noticed extreme weight gain, out of nowhere, but I thought this was just normal, as I have struggled with my weight for a long time. I actually went to see my doctor about it a couple of weeks before I could address this and begin a plan to start losing weight. Unfortunately, my doctors and I would find out through all our tests that this was more that just normal weight gain. I was experiencing minor heart failure due to the heart disease Cardiomyopathy. This basically means that my heart is not operating anywhere near the efficiently it should, and my body was not removing water from my body enough and I was gaining weight in pure water at an excessive amount. After treatment began, I ended up losing over 100 pounds in pure water weight to get back to a place I was stable. Unfortunately due to the wonderful healthcare system in this country, these would not be the end of my woes.

My Doctors determined I was unfit to do physical work, and as a dock worker this caused me to stop working. My job, has a policy that at a certain point of my recovery if I was not able to return to work that I was to be terminated. This would be on good terms and I could always come back if I became healthy enough again but because the cause of health issues was not on their time, they had no choice but to let me go. So while I came out of that December hospital stay with my primary doctor and cardiologists with a plan, my time with my job ended and so did my health insurance that they provided me.

Consequently, I was forced to switched to Medicaid, which has a ton of problems (which will only get worse with the current administrations damaging cuts) and the slow process of getting approved and finding a new doctor, since I could not see my doctor of 30 years anymore, has caused me to run out of my medications and have to go back to the hospital to repeat the process again THREE TIMES. NINE days in August 2024, and THIRTEEN days in November of 2024 and March and the beginning of April just now in 2025.

During all of this I have had no income come in to help my father who is graciously helping survive during this tumultuous time, and I am so grateful for this but I desperately need to take the pressure of his shoulders. So the amount I am asking for may be a lot but I need it to help him pay bills, normal and the hospital ones that have piled up. I may find myself in a position where I am on disability, temporarily or permanently in the near future but this process has been incredibly slow and I have already been denied once, though I have been told to continue to apply and this might change. So please this is really just a band aid on a larger problems but if you can help any amount, it is a band aid we desperately need to survive.
