Support Andrew Gadbois's ICU Recovery in Japan
Donation protected
I am starting a GoFundMe on behalf of Andrew Gadbois.
Andrew has been living and teaching in Japan for the last year and half. He has been working in the elementary and middle school with children with special needs teaching English. He has thrived and really has made a huge impact. He is well loved! On Friday the 6th Andrew went with his friends to Disney in Tokyo. He collapsed in the park and had a seizure. Since then, Andrew continues to be in the ICU (intensive care unit) intubated, sedated and on dialysis in a 1000 bed teaching hospital just outside of the city. The cause of his collapse is still unknown at this time.
As you can imagine, this is any parent's worst nightmare to hear your child has had a medical event- let alone in another country! Geoff (Andrew's father) was able to get on a plane within a few days, but due to strict rules was only allowed to see him for 15 minutes. They do not allow visitors in the ICU. The current plan is Geoff will continue to stay in Japan until Andrew is moved out of the ICU and then be by Andrew's side.
Shirley (Andrew's Mom) is a multi-year veteran nurse at UVMMC, holding down the fort here in Vermont. She continues to work and manage home life, while provide updates and questions for Geoff and the rest family.
The GoFundMe will support anything Andrew and his family needs now and in the future.
This will also be a place we will try to post regular updates on Andrew's condition.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and prayers.
