Unfortunately, Andrea recently fell ill with what seemed like the flu, but her symptoms quickly worsened. A trip to the ER revealed she had developed sepsis around the artificial sleeve on her aorta. After a week in the hospital, she was transferred to Cleveland Clinic, where she needed urgent surgery to replace the aortic sleeve, the aortic valve, and her pacemaker. She has now been in the hospital for almost three weeks, with no clear plan for when she’ll be able to return home.
