My name is Kirkland Guillory, the daughter to Al & Andrea Guillory. At the top of this year my mom was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer… Grade 4 glioblastoma. Hearing the news completely shocked our family, her friends & our community to say the least. It’s like one day all is well, sure a headache here and there, then the next day your world gets flipped upside down. You try and grasp for things to slowdown, you pinch yourself to wake up.. Then you realize this is real. January was when the doctors removed the majority of the mass. March is when her chemo & radiation treatments started. All was going ‘okay’ to say the least. In August, she was admitted to the emergency room due to dehydration. There is when we found out she was developing sepsis. From August - now, she’s been back & forth from hospital to rehab centers. Her biggest challenges right now has been relearning to walk & speech difficulties. We miss her dearly at home, but having her in rehab with therapists & PT is her best hope to healing.
